I decided to try to get our big boy Buster on a bottle of Jones Soda. I had this fun photo of him that I took last summer. He loves being the center of attention and doesn't mind wearing stuff like goggles. He is a character. I have my fingers crossed.

Our little princess just could not be denied this new sweater. It is pink and bedazzled. When there is a chill in the air she will be very diva-like in her pretty sweater.

I cut Buster and Chloe's fur down pretty short. It seems as though they are happy about it....more relaxed than usual. We reached 94 today...pretty hot to wear a fur coat don't cha' think.

I broke out the clippers and freed Buster, Chloe, and Baylor of their hot and heavy fur coats. I had hit my limit when i walked through the livingroom and had tumble weeds of fur balls rolling in front of me.

That's it! Time to get buzzed! They all feel better and my home feels cleaner. Chloe looks so different and looks like a young little puppy. They were all so frisky after getting their new dos.

lAST WEEK AFTER MUCH DEBATE, I DECIDED TO GET BUSTER SNIPPED. I DID QUITE A BIT OF RESEARCH AND NOTICED THERE ARE MANY HEALTH BENEFITS TO NEUTERING YOUR DOG. SO I GAVE IN AND TOOK HIM TO THE VET. HE WAS VERY GROGGY AFTERWARDS AND SLEPT PRETTY MUCH ALL DAY. HE WAS VERY SWOLLEN AND SORE, BUT HAS RECOVERED NICELY. HIS PERSONALITY HAS NOT CHANGE, ALTHOUGH I HOPE HIS DOMINANCE AT THE DOG PARK WILL.

I THINK HE HIS JUST DOING HIS THING.....HEARDING THAT IS, BUT I JUST DON'T KNOW. HE MAY BE FRUSTRATED AND THAT IS WHY HE WOULD GET A BIT TESTY TO OTHER DOGS. I HOPE DURING OUR NEXT VISIT TO THE PARK HE WILL BE LESS FIESTY. ONE THING THAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE SURGERY IS THE FACT YOU CAN'T BATHE YOUR DOG FOR 10 DAYS..... ITS AWFUL BECAUSE BUSTER WAS COATED WITH IODINE FROM SURGERY AND SMELLED FUNNY.

TWO MORE DAYS AND IT WILL BE BATH TIME. OH YEAH AND THE LICKING... BUSTER IS NOT ALLOWED TO LICK HIMSELF. THAT IS LIKE TELLING THE SUN NOT TO SHINE. WELL, I HOPE I DID THE RIGHT THING BY HIM. I DO FEEL IT IS THE BEST THING TO DO FOR YOUR PET SO THEY HAVE A HEALTHIER AND HAPPIER LIFE.

Today marks the 4th year without our beloved black lab Nikita. She was almost 15 years old when she was stricken with a virus that attacked her blood which quickly spread. She was brought into our lives soon after we dealt with Hurricane Andrew. She had stolen our hearts and was very special to us. Recently, I went through my boxes of photos and noticed there were many photos taken with Nikita in the background. She was and will always be more than a dog to us. She was like our child and we protected her, loved her, and did all we could to be there for her.

When Nikita passed away we felt empty for a really long time. As I write this my eyes fill up with tears and my heart aches. To this day we speak of her every once in a while if reminded of her in some way. The way she played, the way she stayed by our sides, the way she ran, the things she loved, and the things she didn't. After her passing we adopted two Corgis, Buster and Chloe. It was just too hard for us to get another Lab. The Corgis are great and have found they're way into our hearts as did Nikita.

We recently began to feel we wanted to do more for dogs, so we began to foster dogs. We have fostered 5 dogs. They were all wonderful and hard to let go, but we knew we were helping them. The last foster dog, a Black Lab, became more than a foster. He is now part of our family and fits in perfectly. His name is Baylor and he can't replace Nikita, but we now feel we were ready to take in a Black Lab without comparing him to Nikita.

Tonight we will light a candle in memory of Nikita and pray she is well and running, jumping, and healthy where ever she is.

Godspeed Nikita! We will always have you in our hearts.

ONE OF THEM ENDED UP STAYING WITH ME AND JOINING OUR CORGI PACK. HIS NAME IS BAYLOR AND HE IS A BLACK LAB. HE REMINDED ME SO MUCH OF OUR LAB NIKITA WHOM PASSED AWAY IN FEBRUARY 2008. HE HAS BEEN A GREAT ADDITION. OUR FIRST FOSTER WAS ALSO A BLACK LAB WHOM WE NAMED HARLEY, SECOND WAS A LITTLE WEE BIT OF A PUPPY NAMED LOUIE, THIRD WAS A COLLIE MIX NAMED PRECIOUS, AND FOURTH WAS A TERRIER MIX NAMED RIGBY. ALL OF THEM WERE SPECIAL AND WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS AND PRAYERS.
